KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 7.2.18.
TODAY: The forecast for Lubbock today is 97 degrees with partly cloudy conditions. The eastern South Plains will be hot and dry today. There is a 20% chance of thunderstorms for the western South Plains this afternoon until around midnight. Threats will include heavy rain associated with slow moving thunderstorms and frequent lightning. There is not a large hail threat today.
TOMORROW: Tuesday will be mostly dry for the area, with a few clouds through the day. Temperatures will be in the mid to upper 90s area wide, with a high of 97 in Lubbock.
THIS WEEK: For Independence Day, it will be a hot afternoon! For the parade starting at 9 am, temperatures will be in the upper 70s, warming to the 80s by the time it’s over. The fireworks should start at dusk with temperatures in the 80s and clear sky conditions! Rain chances and cooler temperatures return Thursday through Saturday.
