KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 7.24.18.
TODAY: Today will be much cooler, with temperatures staying below average. The forecast for Lubbock today is 89 degrees. For the South Plains, expect mid 80s north towards Plainview, and low 90s east of the caprock and south towards Lamesa. The sky will be partly to mostly cloudy, with a 10% rain chance. The best rain potential will come after dark, with showers from eastern New Mexico drifting into the northwest South Plains overnight. Accumulations will likely be one tenth of an inch or less.
TOMORROW: A bit more sunshine is expected Wednesday, with a high of 93 degrees under partly cloudy sky conditions. Winds will turn southeasterly to help the entire South Plains to reach the 90s. There is a 10% rain chance on Wednesday afternoon through the evening.
LOOKING AHEAD: The best chance of rain this week will come Thursday as another weak front approaches the South Plains. We will likely have enough moisture in place which will lift along the front and there is a 30% chance of showers in the morning through the evening. Temperatures will stay mild in the low 90s through Friday. This weekend will be more dry, with a high of 96 on Saturday.
