KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 7.25.18.
TODAY: A warmer day is in store today, with perfect conditions for a pool day! The forecast high for Lubbock is 95 degrees, with low to mid 90s expected for the South Plains. Winds will be light from the southeast. The sky will be partly cloudy to mostly sunny.
TOMORROW: A cold front is expected sometime Thursday afternoon. Timing is still a bit uncertain, but regardless, it will allow for scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon through the overnight. There is a 30% chance of showers for the South Plains region Thursday. Accumulations will vary as the storms will stay more-so isolated, but in general expect 0.25″ up to 0.50″. Temperatures will be about 5 degrees cooler with this front.
LOOKING AHEAD: Friday we will begin to dry out after morning showers, with a cool day ahead in the upper 80s and low 90s. The weekend starts sunny and warm on Saturday in the mid 90s. Then Sunday another front is expected, with rain possible into Monday. Timing of this next front is unclear at this time, and the KAMC Storm Team will continue to study more details as the forecast progesses.
