KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 7.3.18.

TODAY: The monsoon moisture that has given us the rain since last Friday will be mostly cut off by the end of today. The sky will be partly cloudy, and rain chances will be isolated to the state line, with minimal impacts. The forecast for Lubbock is 96 degrees with light wind from the south.

INDEPENDENCE DAY: The 4th of July will be hot and sunny for most! Temperatures will reach the mid to upper 90s across the South Plains, with some 100s possible east of the caprock. For the morning parade, beginning at 9 am, temperatures will be in the upper 70s and low 80s. By lunch time, we will be in the 90s. Stay hydrated and wear sunscreen! The fireworks show at Mackenzie Park should not have any weather related delays, the sky will be mostly clear with temperatures in the mid to upper 80s.

LOOKING AHEAD: The end of the week and into this weekend will be below average, with temperatures in the low 90s. There will be a few more clouds and limited rain chances each day. We will keep you advised.

Send me your weather and fireworks photos!
