KAMC HD Storm Team Weather Webcast 8.10.18

KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 8.10.18.

TODAY: Temperatures will make it to the mid 80s today with peaks of sunshine between mostly cloudy conditions. The forecast for Lubbock is 85 degrees. There is a 40% chance of thunderstorms today, and most will be likely between noon and 9 pm. A few isolated showers are still possible overnight. With these storms expect brief heavy rain and gusty wind.

THIS WEEKEND: Good news and bad news for the weekend. The good news is, there are still rain chances with rainfall totals likely near 0.50″, with isolated spots over 1.00″. The bad news, is the precipitation accumulation values have decreased, as the forecast has shifted to favor central Texas for the heaviest rain potential. On Saturday, widespread showers are possible in the morning hours, plus a few scattered evening thunderstorms. Sunday, a few spotty thunderstorms in the afternoon are possible. Temperatures will stay in the low 80s.

LOOKING AHEAD: Next week we begin to slowly clear up and warm up. Monday and Tuesday still have spotty thunderstorms in the forecast. By the time some students return to school by mid-week, temperatures will be back to the 90s.
