KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 8.20.18.
TODAY: The system that produced rain for the South Plains this weekend is moving out this morning. We will still stay below average today in the upper 80s and low 90s. The forecast for Lubbock is 88 degrees and mostly sunny. The winds will be from the northeast today from 5 to 10 mph.
TOMORROW: By tomorrow our weather pattern begins to shift. A ridge of high pressure will form over the southern U.S. and allow for heat to build. Expect southeast winds to help warm us up tomorrow to 93 degrees in Lubbock.
THIS WEEK: Expect to warm up each day this week, peaking in the upper 90s by Thursday and Friday. The forecast looks dry as the area of high pressure remains in place. This weekend will be slightly cooler, but still above average near 95 degrees.
