KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 8.3.18.
TODAY: A hot Friday is in store! The sky will be partly cloudy, but there will be plenty of sunshine to help temperatures rise to the mid to upper 90s. The forecast for Lubbock 97 degrees. Winds will be light to breezy from the south-southeast at 10-20 mph. Overnight, there is a 10% chance of a few stray showers and thunderstorms making their way into our region from New Mexico and the TX panhandle.
THIS WEEKEND: Overnight showers may leave Saturday morning mostly cloudy on the Caprock. But through the rest of the afternoon and into Sunday, the sky will be mostly sunny. Temperatures will stay steady at 95 degrees this weekend. Winds will be breezy from the south Saturday, and slightly breezy Sunday.
LOOKING AHEAD: The next chance for rain comes along a cold front expected between Wednesday and Thursday of next week. Exact timing of this system is still uncertain at this point, but there will be enough lift associated along this front to provide rain chances. We will continue to monitor this in the Storm Team Weatherlab.
