KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 8.7.18.

TODAY: Tuesday will be very summer-like with temperatures in the mid to upper 90s for the South Plains region. The forecast for Lubbock today is 96 degrees. Enjoy some time outdoors! The sky will be mostly sunny with high clouds, and wind will be light to breezy from the south.

TOMORROW: Rain potential returns on Wednesday, especially overnight. The day will start sunny and warm, and the forecast high for Lubbock is 93 degrees. There is a 30% chance of thunderstorms, starting in the evening and continuing overnight. A front will move from north to south into Thursday morning and allow lift for cloud and rain development. At this time, totals may be near 0.25″ to 0.50″ for those who see a shower.

LOOKING AHEAD: After the front clears our area by Friday morning, rain chances will begin to decrease as the South Plains clears out. But, we are still watching for spotty showers to continue into the weekend. Those who see multiple rounds of rain in the next several days may see rainfall totals near or above an inch, but those will be the lucky few. Regardless of rain potential, all of the region will be much cooler with 80s on the board Thursday through next Monday.
