KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 8.8.18.

TODAY: A front is expected to impact the South Plains by tonight, increasing our rain chances and allowing a cooling trend. But, for the morning and afternoon, temperatures will rise to the 90s and there will be partly cloudy sky conditions. By dinner time, through the overnight, there is a 40% chance of thunderstorms. There is a low level severe weather threat today, with hail and gusty winds as potential threats. A few showers are likely to linger into early Thursday morning.

TOMORROW: Thursday will be much cooler after the front overnight. Temperatures will make it to the 80s in the afternoon. There is a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms for both the morning and possible redevelopment in the evening. The storms Thursday will likely be weaker than Wednesday night.

LOOKING AHEAD: A secondary system comes by this weekend, which will help temperatures to stay below average. This will also reinforce our 20-30% rain chances Friday through Sunday. Rainfall accumulations over the next 5 days are likely to reach 0.25-0.50 inches likely, with 1-2 inch totals possible.
