KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 9.14.18.
TODAY: A warm afternoon is in store to wrap up this week. Below is a look at forecast high temperatures for the South Plains, up to 86 in Lubbock. Sorry folks, no video today due to technical difficulties! The sky will be mostly clear through the afternoon and evening, with light to slightly breezy wind from the southeast today. Overnight more clouds will move into the South Plains, and eventually lead to rain chance by Saturday.

THIS WEEKEND: We will experience an influx of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico this weekend, giving a 20% chance of light to moderate rain showers. Starting Saturday morning and early afternoon showers move into the east and southeast area:

Then by Saturday afternoon, showers continue to move northwest and become more widespread in the region. We may see a shower for Texas Tech Football kick off, but it will likely be short lived as showers dissipate through the evening.

Temperatures will be in the low 80s Saturday, and the mid 80s Sunday. There is a 10% chance of spotty morning rain on Sunday.
NEXT WEEK: Most of next week is trending sunny and warm in the mid to upper 80s. We have added a watch for rain on Thursday as a potential front approaches our area. As always, we will keep you advised.
