KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 9.17.18.
TODAY: A seasonable and warm day is ahead for the South Plains. Temperatures will range in the mid to upper 80s, with the warmest spots east of the Caprock. The forecast is 85 degrees for Lubbock. Wind will be light to breezy from the south, 10-15 mph. The sky will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy.
TOMORROW: Tuesday will be similar, in the mid 80s, up to 86 in Lubbock. Most of the region will stay warm with sunshine.
THIS WEEK: Through mid-week, expect conditions to stay slightly above average with light to breezy southerly wind. By Thursday, we stay warm but cloud cover will gradually increase and rain chances return as well, at 10%. Sometime by Friday, a cold front will either move through our area or stall out near the South Plains. This will cool temperatures to the upper 70s and low 80s Friday and Saturday. This also increases cloud cover and rain chances. For now, the best chance of rain is on Friday at 20% area-wide. By Sunday, the sunshine returns!
