KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 9.19.18.
TODAY: A warm and summer-like day is in store on this Wednesday. Temperatures in the South Plains will be in the mid to upper 80s on the Caprock, and the low 90s east of the Caprock today. The forecast high for Lubbock is 87 degrees. The morning clouds will break up to partly cloudy sky conditions this afternoon. Winds will be breezy from the south at 15-20 mph.
TOMORROW: Temperatures will still be seasonable in the low to mid 80s Thursday, with clear conditions through the early afternoon. More clouds begin to move into the region first, then thunderstorms are expected Thursday evening and continuing overnight. There is potential for heavy rain Thursday through Friday that may lead to brief flooding.
LOOKING AHEAD: The rain is likely to continue Friday, along a cold front that will move through the area during the day. After the front passes, a few showers may remain, but lesser in coverage through Saturday. We will certainly feel cooler, with 70s in the forecast through Sunday.
