KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 9.28.18.
TODAY: Patchy fog has developed for the South Plains this morning on the Caprock. A dense fog advisory is in place until 10 am this morning. Clouds will gradually clear out and the sun will shine through the later afternoon. High temperatures are trending above average today, with a forecast for 86 degrees in Lubbock. Winds will be light from the south 5-10 mph.
THIS WEEKEND: On Saturday morning a weak cold front will stall out and eventually fizzle out in the northern South Plains. This will leave the morning tailgate partly cloudy and cool in the 50s and 60s. Afternoon temperatures will be minimally impacted by this front, with most of the region making it to the low 80s. Sunday will be mostly sunny and a few degrees warmer, in the low to mid 80s.
NEXT WEEK: Temperatures will stay seasonable beginning next week in the low 80s. The next potential change in the weather pattern comes will monsoon moisture returning to West Texas by mid-week. There is a slight chance of showers on Tuesday and Wednesday with the influx of tropical air from the Pacific. The Storm Team will continue to watch this and keep you advised.
