KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 9.4.18.

TODAY: Today is looking a bit more sunny with a lesser chance of rain for the region. There is still a chance for thunderstorms for the eastern half of the region today, near the dinner time hour and through the evening. Threats will include heavy rain and lightning. The western half of the South Plains will stay mostly dry today. Temperatures will mostly range in the mid 80s today, at 86 in Lubbock.

TOMORROW: Wednesday brings better rain chances, especially in the evening and overnight. A cold front will move through the South Plains and provide lift for thunderstorms to develop. There is a 40% chance of rain Wednesday. Temperatures will be slightly cooler in the low 80s, with partly cloudy to mostly cloudy conditions.

LOOKING AHEAD: After the cold front clears out Thursday afternoon, rain chances begin to decrease through the end of the week. Thursday will likely be the coolest day this week, in the upper 70s and low 80s. Friday will be in the low 80s with scattered showers possible. Saturday an isolated thunderstorm is possible, but less likely. TTU football kicks off at home on Saturday at 3 pm, and temperatures will be comfortable in the low 80s with partly cloudy sky conditions.
