Clouds are flowing into the area ahead of that strong low pressure system just to our west. That low will keep skies cloudy this morning and will bring in storms this afternoon. Not much has change in terms of timing for these storms today. They will begin to move into the area by 1:00 pm. Expect heavy rain by the evening rush hour with any thunderstorm. Coverage today is going to be 60%. Lubbock will get to a high of 64° this afternoon.
Overnight, showers and thunderstorms will continue. Coverage from midnight to 7:00 am will be 70%. From 7:00 am-1:00 pm Thursday, we’ll see that drop to 30% and will mainly be confined to the Rolling Plains. Storms will exit the area after 1:00 pm tomorrow. Precipitation totals from this low could be anywhere from 1-2 inches by tomorrow afternoon. That will cause flooding on roads and ponding on the loop, Marsha Sharp Freeway and I-27. So, be careful while driving this afternoon and tomorrow morning.
