The sunshine & warm air we saw over the weekend will continue this afternoon & really all week long. High pressure is setting up over parts of central & east Texas this afternoon. That means plenty of sunshine & highs above average across west Texas. Lubbock is going to top out with a high of 98° this afternoon. There will be pockets of triple digit heat in the Rolling Plains.

By tomorrow, things will stay relatively unchanged. Highs will barely drop in the South Plains down to the mid 90s. Locations off the Caprock will be back down to the upper 90s. Expect mostly sunny skies to stay with us all week long. The wind will stay from the south & southwest this week. It’s hard to get the moisture needed for rain & storms when we see the wind coming from this direction. The only spots that have small probabilities of rain will be the northwest counties.
