The warm air is going to hang on for this afternoon has that high pressure over central & eats Texas will keep us dry. The sky will be mostly sunny today with Lubbock seeing a high of 98°. The Rolling Plains will see highs in the triple digits in some places. There will be a few thunderstorms west of Brownfield this evening. They will be less than 10% & will move slow. So, if you see one, there will be heavy rain with it.
Much of the same for tomorrow. The first week of August is certainly shaping up to be very typical. There will be mostly sunny skies, with highs in the upper 90s for most of the area. The Rolling Plains will, once again, see highs over 100°. With that monsoonal moisture flowing over Arizona & New Mexico, I can’t rule out a few stray storms closer to the state line tomorrow evening. Coverage is going to stay well less than 10%.
