Thankfully, some showers were able to get going yesterday evening & last night in the northwestern counties. So, someone actually saw some welcome rain…just not Lubbock. We actually saw a high of 98° on Tuesday. Much of the same this afternoon, as highs will stay in the upper 90s. The Rolling Plains will see highs above 100° in some locations. There will be a stray shower, or storm along the state line this evening, once again.
Tomorrow will see more fair-weather cumulus clouds back in the area. We may get a break from the sun for 30 seconds, or so, but that is about all. High pressure will keep things very warm & breezy for Thursday. Expect a high in Lubbock of 99°, with more triple digit heat in the Rolling Plains. This is pretty typical heat for the beginning of August, even though the average high is 93°. We do need more rainfall, but we will not see significant rain area-wide any time soon.
