It is absolutely frigid out there! That strong cold front has brought in the coldest air that we have seen in quite some time. Temperatures are down into the 20s & teens across the entire area, including the Rolling Plains. Some light snow flurries are trying to get going into Borden & Scurry Counties, but will not cause travel issues. The wind chill is in the single digits to the northwest & teens elsewhere.
You will need to dress warm all day today, as this cold air will stick around through tomorrow. We’re looking at cloudy skies for the day, which will keep that cold air at the surface. Highs today will not make it above freezing anywhere from Lubbock to the state line. Locations off the Caprock will stay in the lower & mid 30s for highs. Lubbock will only reach 31° for the high. So, please try to stay warm today.
