Not too much has changed in the area since this time 24 hours ago. We are still looking at clear skies & light wind, for now. The clear skies stay with us today, as that large ridge of high pressure brings in the sunshine. That ridge will also give us some very warm air this afternoon. Expect highs to be in the upper 70s in Lubbock & on the Caprock. Meanwhile, the Rolling Plains will see highs in the low 80s!

The downside to the warmth is the wind & dry air. We really do need some rain to help us out. But, with this ridge of high pressure taking control this week & into the weekend, rain is looking highly unlikely. The wind will be elevated this afternoon, with sustained wind at 15-20 mph & gusts reaching 30-35 mph. Be smart around open flames. We certainly don’t need any fires in the area.
