A cold front has worked its way through the area this morning & it is doing its job. Temperatures have dropped down into the upper 20s & mid 30s in the area. The wind is coming from the north & northwest & will stay at 25-35 mph today. We will see sunny skies this afternoon, with highs actually closer to average. The average high in Lubbock is 61° & we will reach 63°, but it will feel more like the mid 50s with that wind blowing around out there.

A secondary cold front will move in by tomorrow morning. This one is packing a punch, in terms of much colder air. Temperatures will drop down into the low 20s for Lubbock Saturday, with upper teens in our northwestern counties. The wind will be blowing at 10-15 mph, so wind chill values will be in the single digits in our western counties. Lubbock’s wind chill will drop to the teens. The afternoon is going to stay sunny & dry, a we reach a high of 57°. That will feel more like the low 50s with the wind.
