KLBK AM Weather January 16, 2017

We certainly saw good rainfall over the weekend. In fact, Lubbock had a record rainfall amount on Sunday, getting .97″! We actually saw .00″ at the airport on Friday, but ended up with 1.55″ of rain for Saturday & Sunday! That is always good to talk about, because we ended 2016 with such dry conditions. So far, in 2017, Lubbock is in a surplus by 1.68″. Let’s hope we can keep that up all year long!

This afternoon will begin to see warmer air move into the area as the low pressure that brought the rain moves away from us. Skies will be mostly sunny, with highs in the mid 50s. The average high for Lubbock is 54°, which is what we’ll get to today. The wind will remain light, so it will be a good day to get outdoors if you can. We’ll only talk about warmer air in the forecast later in the week, but not as dramatic as temperatures were last week.
