Warm weather is going to return to the South Plains this afternoon, with plenty of sunshine! The bad news is the wind is also returning. We’ll see a west wind today which is that down sloping wind from the mountains in New Mexico. It will sink & warm, then spread east causing our highs to be well above average. The wind will be at 25-30 mph, gusting to 40 mph today. Lubbock will get to a high of 66°.

Much of the same expected for the day on Friday. Skies will be mostly sunny & the wind will be at 25-30 mph, gusting to 40 mph. The little cloud cover we do see will be enough to only keep highs ten degrees above average, as Lubbock will get to 64° in the afternoon. The wind will be more of a southwest wind, which also brings in the warm air.
