Here we go again with another day & another record high for Lubbock. We saw a high of 108° on Wednesday, breaking the previous record of 107°, set in 1933. So, we broke an 83 year old record, for the second consecutive day! Today will see much more of the same things, in terms of high heat in the South & Rolling Plains. We’ll see a high of 107° this afternoon. The record is 108°, set in 1933.
There will be a round of isolated showers & thunderstorms this afternoon. The timing is going to be after 5:00 pm-midnight. The storms will move in from the north & push southeast. It looks like they will affect areas around Lubbock, Floydada, Brownfield, Tahoka & Plainview. A storm, or two, will have the potential of golf ball sized hail & wind over 70 mph. So, be ready for some damaging storms this evening.
