The summer time high pressure is keeping the sunshine & dry conditions around. Yesterday, Lubbock reached a high of 97°. The average is 93°, so at least we were relatively close to where we should be. Much of the same is expected this afternoon. The sunshine will be the dominating factor in our weather. Wind will remain at 10-15 mph & Lubbock is going to get to 98°. There will be isolated triple digits in the Rolling Plains.
The air is only going to warm up even more by tomorrow & will last through Saturday. Expect Lubbock to see a high of 99° for Friday. There will be more locations in the Rolling Plains that top out at 100°, or higher. This is not going to be quite the outbreak of triple digit heat that we saw last week, but things will certainly be hot east of Lubbock. Just remember to stay safe out in the heat this weekend.
