We had a few things going on yesterday which could be unique to west Texas. Lubbock actually saw a high of 100°, making it the 12th time this year that we have seen a triple digit high (10 of those have been in July). We also had thunderstorms push through the area from the north & northeast. The airport officially reported 0.00″ of rain. The south side of town saw anywhere from .02-.08″.

Today will see more clouds than sunshine. The air will remain damp & muggy with all of this moisture in place. Expect another round of isolated showers & thunderstorms coming in from the north. Coverage this afternoon of those storms will be 10%. The reason why we’re finally getting this muggy air & storms is the high pressure has finally moved east. That has opened the door for the moisture to pour back in.
