It’s a quiet start to this Friday across west Texas. We’ll still experience a warm afternoon with most locations reaching the upper 90s for highs. I can’t rule out some spots in the Rolling Plains seeing a high of 100°, or slightly higher. Late tonight, after sunset, there will be spotty storms that try to get going to the west of Lubbock. If they hold together, they’ll move through the western counties at less than 10% coverage & will be gone by 8:00 am.

A weak cold front is actually going to push through the area tonight. That will help to get those spotty storms going. This front will also drop high temperatures for Saturday. In fact, we’ll be closer to average, as Lubbock gets to 95°. Highs will top out in the upper 90s for the Rolling Plains. Wind is going to be at 10-15 mph this weekend, through the middle of the week.
