We’re seeing clearing skies and much cooler air this Thursday morning. That low pressure system that brought the severe weather Tuesday and rain Wednesday is well east of our area, taking the rain with it. Lubbock saw an additional .39″ of rain yesterday, which has recharged the surplus back over an inch for the year. Be ready to bundle up this morning, because many spots are down into the 30s to start things out.

This afternoon will see a ridge of high pressure moving in behind that strong storm system that brought the rain Wednesday. The wind will shift around to the west today, which will downslope from the mountains in New Mexico, warm, then spread east. This is the reason why highs will jump up into the 80s for many spots this afternoon. Lubbock is looking at a high temperature of 80°. The air will be very dry, so keep in mind the elevated fire danger today.
