Skies are clear this morning, but the cold air is staying away…at least for now. We’re seeing higher temperatures this morning with that warmer air in place. Most spots are in the low 50s, with scattered upper 40s, as well. What a big difference from where we were 24 hours ago. This afternoon is going to see more sunshine and more wind. The wind will be sustained at 15-25 mph, but highs will climb up into the low 90s. Lubbock will get to 90°.
Our first cold front of May is going to move through the area by daybreak tomorrow. This is going to shift the wind around to the north on Tuesday. It will be sustained at 20-25 mph, gusting to 40 mph at times. High temperatures will be held in check tomorrow, thanks to the colder air filtering in from the north. Lubbock is going to only reach a high temperature of 72°, well below the average high of 80°.
