Well, the wacky weather of Autumn 2016 is going to stay with us throughout the week. We’re heading into a La Nina pattern, which makes sense given the weather recently. La Nina is the cooling of the water in the eastern Pacific Ocean. This means a warmer & drier winter season for Texas. We’ll see warm weather today, under sunny skies. Expect a high in Lubbock to reach 75°. The wind will remain light, staying at 5-10 mph.
We’ll see an upper-level ridge of high pressure setting up across the area for tomorrow. This is going to promote sunny skies & very warm air for the South & Rolling Plains. The wind will be out of the west, but it will stay at 5-10 mph. So, that westerly wind sinks from the mountains in New Mexico. As it does, it warms up & spreads east. So, with all of that said, Lubbock is going to see a high of 81° tomorrow afternoon.
