Good Friday Morning:

The radar across the South Plains and the Rolling Plains is active this morning with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Storms started forming a few hours before daybreak this morning. The storms have been moving off to the southeast. The stronger storms could produce small hail, gusty winds, frequent lightning and brief periods of heavy rainfall. We may see a break in storms by late morning but more storms will develop by this afternoon and into the evening. Otherwise, expect a partly sunny to mostly cloudy sky today.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of the South Plains and the Rolling Plains under a “marginal” risk for severe weather today. A “marginal” risk simply means there is a low end threat for a strong to severe storm.

Thunderstorm chances will continue on Saturday across the South Plains and the Rolling Plains. Otherwise, the sky will once again be mostly sunny to partly cloudy. Forecast models have taken storm chances out for Sunday at this point. Isolated thunderstorms will again be possible on Monday and Tuesday.

One more warm day is on tap across the area with highs in the lower 90s on the Caprock and middle 90s off in the Rolling Plains. Daytime highs will fall back into the 80s over the weekend thanks to the cold front that will pass through the area later today. Temperatures warm back up into the lower and middle 90s by next week.
