By the weekend, there will be no effects from Tropical Storm Earl felt in west Texas. Earl will stay too far to the south for our area to get any welcome rain. So, there will be more sunshine, with highs in the upper 90s for Lubbock, triple digits in the Rolling Plains. The weekend will be good for getting yard work done, or washing your car. Maybe if enough of us get our cars washed, we can force the rain out? Let’s hope so!

The air will stay dry & the skies sunny by the next work week. Even though the high will weaken, temperatures will stay above average for highs by Monday & Tuesday. Lubbock will be in the mid & upper 90s, while more spots in the Rolling Plains will top out at 100°, or slightly above. There is no helping rain in the forecast, even though the western counties will get another round of stray showers & storms early next week.
