This weekend will stay dry & sunny, thanks to that high pressure which will be moving slowly to the west. As it does, it will block any showers, or thunderstorms from entering the South & Rolling Plains. The wind this weekend will stay at 10-15 mph, with slightly lower high temperatures. We’ll see a high of 97° for Lubbock on Saturday, then 96° on Sunday afternoon. The Rolling Plains will be closer to 100° Saturday & should stay in the upper 90s on Sunday, with a few triple digits in some spots.

By the start of the next work week, the high pressure which has kept us dry will finally move out of the area. This will allow for a small pattern change across west Texas. High temperatures begin to drop closer to average by the middle of the week. A low pressure system will drop down from the northwest by Wednesday. This will try to bring some rain to our area. I will watch it & get a better idea of where the storms will be by early next week.
