By Friday, we will forget about all of the cold air…at least for now. An upper-level ridge of high pressure will settle over Texas, which means plenty of sunshine & very warm air. Expect highs to challenge records on Friday & Saturday. Lubbock will reach a high of 83° Friday, shy of the record of 84°. Then Saturday, we’ll top out at 85°, which would tie the record high.
A stronger cold front is going to pass through from the northwest on Sunday. We’ll get dramatically colder air pulled down from the north. Expect increasing clouds & wind to be at 15-20 mph, gusting to 35 mph in the afternoon. Highs will only be in the mid 50s, which will actually be below average. We’ll see even colder air by Monday afternoon, too.
