By Sunday, we’ll begin to see heavy rain showers moving in from the west & southwest. There will also be thunderstorms within these rain showers. Don’t be surprised to see small hail wit ha few storms. After all, it is January & it will be cold well above the surface. Rainfall amounts will be between one & two inches by midnight Monday morning. So, be careful driving & watch for flooded roads & slick spots on highways. Highs will be in the upper 40s.
Things will begin to dry out & calm down by Monday. There will be leftover showers to the far east very early Monday morning. There will also be very light snow flurries, or a snow shower, in Parmer & Castro Counties before sunrise. No accumulations are expected. It will be quite cold on Monday morning, as lows dip to the upper 30s, mid 20s to the northwest. Monday afternoon will see mostly sunny skies, with highs in the mid 50s.
