The high heat will stick around under this dome of high pressure on Thursday. There will be some passing fair-weather Cumulus clouds to give us short breaks from the sun. However, that sun is still going to show its dominance. With dry air at the surface during peak heating, we will see a high of 105°. Not as close to the record of 108°, but still within a few degrees. That just shows how hot the week will be.

For the end of the week, the ridge will begin to break down some, but we’re still going to see triple digit heat in the area. Highs will stay in the mid & upper 90s along the state line. The rest of us will hover around 100°. In fact, Lubbock will top out right at 100°, with highs closer to 102° in the Rolling Plains. We’ll finally see highs in the double digits this weekend. Lubbock will get to 99° on Saturday & 96° on Sunday.
