By Thursday afternoon, any clouds that are still sticking around will move out of the region. The sunshine is going to return, with drier air in place for west Texas. The wind is going to shift around to the southwest. That direction is the reason for the drier conditions. Highs will still remain in the mid 90s for Lubbock & counties west. The Rolling Plains will see highs in the upper 90s, but nothing like the triple digits of last week.
The air is going to warm up the most on Friday & stay that way through the weekend. Expect skies to remain clear & sunny for the afternoon. Lubbock will see the high jump up to 99°. The Rolling Plains will see highs at 100-102° in the afternoon. The heat won’t be long lasting, but it’s still going to be there. Stay safe while spending time outdoors!
