As high pressure moves back over the Red River Valley, our air is going to begin to dry out. The wind direction will shift around, cutting off the moisture that has been coming into the area. Expect a sunny afternoon on Friday, light southwesterly wind & a high of 97° in Lubbock. High temperatures will be able to climb up closer to 100° due to the southwest flow that will be returning to west Texas.

The weekend is shaping up to be warm, breezy & dry. High pressure will stay parked to our northeast. High pressure has sinking air, so that is going to keep the cloud cover away from west Texas for the weekend. Highs will generally stay in the mid 90s. The Rolling Plains will see a few spots get to 100° as the sun shines down on us. The weekend will be good for any yard work, or other things you couldn’t do during the week.
