The weekend is going to stay dry & warm. Aside from leftover storms prior to 8:00 am Saturday. The wind will stay elevated, but only 10-15 mph, as that drier air builds across west Texas. A ridge of high pressure will move back to the Red River Valley. This will impact west Texas with sunny skies & highs above average. Lubbock will reach a high of 96° on Saturday, feeling more like that with less moisture content in the air.

By Sunday, expect much more summer time heat. There will be wall-to-wall sunshine for the South & Rolling Plains. Our wind is going to stay at 10-15 mph under this ridge. High temperatures will climb up to 98° in Lubbock. The Rolling Plains will see more triple digit heat. At least there is going to be lower moisture, so it won’t be feeling like 110°. Things will feel closer to what the actual air temperature is.
