As we move into the weekend, we’ll still see mostly sunny skies on Saturday. Highs will slightly drop in Lubbock. We are going to reach a high of 98°, with triple digit heat in the Rolling Plains. The afternoon & evening will, once again, see isolated thunderstorms covering 10% of the area. These storms will have gusty wind & frequent lightning. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was small hail, as well.
Sunday is going to stay in two digits for highs in Lubbock, but only barely. We will reach 99° here, with more triple digits in the Rolling Plains. Highs there will be closer to 102-104°. You guessed it! There will be afternoon & evening thunderstorms covering 10% of our area. These storms will be less active & should only have moderate rain & lightning. So, keep that rain gear with you all weekend long!
