By Thursday, mostly sunny skies will dominate the area. We will see wind increase to 10-15 mph. Highs will also increase, thanks to the proximity of high pressure. Lubbock will see a high of 96°, with highs near 100° in the Rolling Plains. With that dry air in place, we are not looking at any of those hit & miss thunderstorms, so remember to be careful when spending long hours outdoors.
Friday kicks off Independence Day weekend & it will kick things off with warm air & breezy conditions. That high pressure system over west Texas will weaken slightly on Friday, just enough to squeeze out some isolated thunderstorms. Coverage is looking to be 10%, so just keep an eye to the sky & beware of lightning. Otherwise, things will be mostly sunny, with a high of 95°.
