The ridge of high pressure will hang overhead for Friday, too. We’ll see more of a southwest wind for tomorrow, sustained at 15-20 mph, gusting to 35 mph. That will be the only problem with the forecast on Friday. Otherwise, after a chilly start with lows in the upper 40s, the afternoon is going to see sunny skies with a high of 86° here in Lubbock. Highs will be in the 80s for nearly every reporting site.

Another cold front will move into the area for Saturday. The wind will shift back to the west, but the air is not going to be as warm as previous days. Sustained wind will be at 10-15 mph, the higher-end gusts will top 25 mph. We’ll get mostly sunny skies, with a high temperature of 74° in Lubbock. That is still above average, but obviously not as warm as earlier in the week. It’s still shaping up to be great weather for the rodeo this year.
