Highs will remain more than ten degrees above average as we start off the weekend Friday afternoon. That ridge of high pressure is going to keep the skies clear & the air warm. Lubbock will be looking at a high of 83° on Friday, with upper 80s east & upper 70s to the northwest. The wind will increase to 10-15 mph on Friday, making things feel cooler for the high school football games on Friday night.
Saturday will see the heat return to the area. I say the heat, because highs will be into the 90s in the Rolling Plains, with mid 80s in Lubbock & central locations. We’ll keep the wind up at 10-15 mph during the day, so that will try to help things feel better. There will still be no rain in forecast, which we desperately need, but will not even mention until, perhaps, the middle of next week.
