Thursday is the start of Autumn. The new season will start at 9:21 am. The high pressure ridge will start to move out of the region Thursday, so highs won’t be as high as earlier in the week. Expect Lubbock to top out in the upper 80s, with more low 90s to the east. The western counties will see highs in the mid 80s. Wind will be from the south-southwest at 10-15 mph. So, the wind will try to cool us down in the afternoon. The average high is 83°.

The end of the week will once again watch high temperatures drop off a few degrees from the previous day. The skies will remain sunny & the air will be dry. Highs will be staying in the upper 80s in the area, with low 90s off the Caprock. High school football games on Friday night will be dry & actually on the warm side. So, no delays expected this week, but we do have isolated storms in the forecast for the weekend.
