Good Monday Morning:
Today is the first full day of summer on the South Plains and the Rolling Plains. Temperatures will be a few degrees below normal today with upper 80s and lower 90s around the region. The normal high temperature is 92° for June 22. There are some clouds streaming across the area from the south this morning. These will be with us for a few hours. We should become mostly sunny by late morning and stay that way into the afternoon. Expect mostly clear conditions across the area tonight.
A quiet weather pattern will continue across the South Plains and the Rolling Plains this week with mostly sunny conditions with highs in the lower 90s and overnight lows in the middle and upper 60s. Don’t be surprised if we start each day with morning clouds like we are seeing today. There is still quiet a bit of humidity in the air, so afternoon highs and overnight lows will feel just a bit warmer than the actual air temperature.
The South Plains and the Rolling Plains is currently on the eastern area of an area of high pressure across the southwestern United States. The high will shift a little more west and northwest later this week. Isolated thunderstorm chances will return by Friday and into the weekend. Significant rain chances are not expected, mostly we’ll see a few hit and miss storms.
