That high pressure that has been causing things to be sunny, warm & dry is still in place today. That is helping to bring in hot conditions in the Rolling Plains, with wind at 10-15 mph. There are locations to the east already at 100°. Lubbock is in at 98°, so far. That warm air & wind is not out of the forecast yet. Expect things to be sunny & hot tomorrow, with Lubbock reaching 100°.
The Rolling Plains will be looking at more triple digit heat for Sunday afternoon. The high will slowly be moving out of the way, but the heat & wind will still be pushing through west Texas. The air will be dry, with the cumulus clouds passing from time to time. Lubbock will see a high of 99°. Showers & storms will be absent on Sunday, but they could be in the area later in the week.
