April 9th, 2019 Evening Weather

Happy Tuesday everyone! It has been another beautiful, sunny and hot day across the South Plains with highs sitting in the low 90’s. However, starting tomorrow temperatures will begin to drop and wind speeds will increase dramatically. Wednesday midday and continuing into Thursday, winds will reach into the 40-70 MPH range which means blowing dust is expected and fire weather danger will be high. Please avoid burning of any kind and make sure to dispose of cigarettes properly. Also make sure to drive with caution because these strong wind gusts could flip 18 wheelers and cause you to merge into other lanes unintentionally.

The temperature decline will continue throughout the work week with highs dropping into the mid-60’s on Thursday and then the low 50’s on Saturday. We will also be watching for our next chance for showers and thunderstorms beginning Friday evening and continuing through Saturday morning. Some of these storms could be severe so make sure to stay weather aware!
