Happy Tuesday everyone! We have had a much cooler day across the South Plains following the passage of today’s cold front. Behind this front, we have seen a surge of moisture. This has allowed for a dense deck of clouds to form and it will bring a slight chance for isolated freezing rain/sleet/snow showers this evening and into tomorrow morning. Accumulations will be light but still drive with caution during this time frame. You will also notice that the cool down will continue tomorrow with lows dropping into the teens and highs only reaching into the low 30’s. That means it is important to keep your pets and potted plants indoors tomorrow as well as during the overnight and early morning hours this entire week. Also remember to turn sprinklers off to prevent a multitude of issues on the roadways. Temperatures will rebound Thursday through Saturday with highs moving back above average. However, our next dose of cold Arctic air will move in just in time for the end of 2017 and the start of 2018 so make sure to keep the coats handy. Throughout the many thermal fluctuations we see this week and next, the only chance for precipitation will be this evening, with a dry and sunny forecast sticking around for the remainder of this forecast.
