Happy Tuesday everyone! We have had a warmer day across the South Plains with highs moving into the low 60’s and abundant sunshine across the region. The slow warming trend will continue through the second half of the work week with highs moving into the upper 70’s tomorrow and Thursday. However, cloud cover will be on the increase tomorrow before our next front pushes into the region. This will be the headline of the forecast because with this front, we will see our first chance for precipitation in almost 100 days! We are expecting precipitation chances to increase overnight Thursday into Friday morning with chances remaining through Saturday morning. The tricky part of the forecast is determining what type of precipitation we will be seeing. During the Thursday night/Friday morning window, models are now showing most folks low temperatures remaining above the freezing mark – but not by much. This means there is a possibility for a mix of liquid rain and wintry precipitation during this time frame.  Temperatures will only reach into the low 40’s for your highs on Friday afternoon but will drop back into the 20’s Saturday morning, meaning another chance for wintry precipitation is possible. Then precipitation chances will cease, temperatures will rebound quickly over the weekend, and we will see more sunshine and windy conditions return.
