Happy Wednesday everyone! It has been a warmer day across the South Plains with highs back in the mid-60’s. Temperatures will continue to increase, moving back into the upper 70’s by Thursday afternoon. Unfortunately another thing that will be increasing is our wind speeds. This began this afternoon and will continue through the beginning of next week. Winds will bump back in the 20-45 MPH range which means blowing dust will return to the forecast and that there will be an increase risk of fire weather over the remainder of the week. Burning of any kind is not recommended and if you are a cigarette smoker, make sure to dispose of them properly. On Friday temperatures will decrease by a few degrees with a much bigger drop occurring on Sunday. A cold front will drop highs into the mid-50’s on Sunday afternoon and the low 40’s on Monday. We will also be watching for our next chance for precipitation which will arrive on Monday evening and continue on Tuesday. At this time models are indicating a rain/snow mix so make sure to stay tuned for updates!
